UES Raises £6000 to Tackle Holiday Hunger in South Bristol

On Saturday, 9th of September, UES hosted our third consecutive charity cricket tournament and family fun day for Community of Purpose at Portishead Cricket Club. The £6000 raised will be allocated towards their Break Free programme, raising funds to help feed and support young, vulnerable people struggling with holiday hunger in South Bristol.

Twelve local businesses kindly donated an entry fee to battle it out centre stage and take home the trophy, with construction consultants Coreus Group emerging victorious. In second place were kitchen and bathroom stockists Bushey Supplies, who suffered unfortunate allegations of sledging a little too hard for a charity day. Do what you have to do, right lads?

Surrounding the cricket pitch was an array of entertainment for all the family, featuring fantastic live music from Mike Bess, The Straight Talkin’ Magnets, and Stubbsy’s Yard. Also proving popular were a variety of craft stalls, inflatables, a hog roast, ice cream, and kids Olympics, all playing their part in raising such a brilliant total.

A special thank you to the businesses involved, the Portishead Cricket Club staff, everyone who donated a raffle or auction prize, and volunteers on the day, including our host with the most, Berkeley Harris. We had an incredible time, and we hope you did too.
