A complete heating upgrade for a Church of England school in Exeter.

Overview

This large-scale heating system in Exeter was installed in the 2022 summer holidays.

UES has completed multiple projects within the Education sector in a restricted timeframe – so we knew that the job would be finished confidently and efficiently.

The primary school was running on an inefficient heating system and had obsolete lighting – the perfect recipe for poor heat output and excessive energy costs.

What was the solution?

Our Mechanical engineers set to work on the primary school once the students had left for summer. Of course, this meant that there was no disruption to learning and all school members would benefit on their return.

Being able to accommodate the Mechanical, Electrical, and Building requirements under one roof meant that UES could be relied on for all aspects of the job.

The works included: Designing, installing, and commissioning a high-performance plant room with upgraded system controls; zoning the system for timed and temperature-controlled heating for isolated areas of the school; and upgrading all the lighting in the new suspended ceilings to LED for maximum efficiency and cost savings.

What was the result?

The primary school was transitioning towards becoming Church of England Voluntary Controlled at the time of the installation. This ambitious change project involved a lot of works in and around the school – one of them being investment into the grounds and renovation works.

UES are enormously proud to have successfully contributed towards the upgrading of the school heating to help show their new identity.

Heading into the colder months, the students and the staff can now enjoy optimised comfort in every part of the building. Furthermore, they will see their energy costs heavily reduced thanks to the energy-efficient system.
